A hidden secret restaurant located in the neighborhood area of Gurley Avenue, Kalachandji's makes it a must visit restaurant. With its serene surroundings it reflects a modern pastime of the Indian temples located in the mountains. Kalachandji's incorporates the daily customs of their religion with the buffet by having its buffet business located right next to the temple. While I was nearing the door I smelled the scent of a light smell of incense seeping through the door.
Kalachandji’s offers the historical view of their beautifully engraved statues in the temple located just to the right of the gift shop and buffet. Before entering the temple remember to take off your shoes. Upon entering, you can see a spiritual leader who leads the precession of the dharma. A visitor can get a mat and quietly enjoy the talk towards the back of the temple. Another hotspot to visit within the temple is the gift shop. They sell a variety of things ranging from incense, bracelets, and an assortment of sodas. Of the several I tried the Ginseng Cola, which has a tingly sweet twist, different from the original Coca –Cola.
They cater to the special needs of vegan's and vegetarians by offering a wide selection of food from each, although you may have to ask a server to tell you which is which. After getting my food I was able to enjoy the peaceful naturistic feel of their dining area. It felt as if I was in a whole new world as I have never been able to eat natural foods and enjoy it at the same time. Their buffet is definetley a bargain since vegetarian foods are usually quite expensive. At the price of ten dollars in an all you can eat buffet, its definetely a steal. At the very end you may regret that you were allured by all the great food because you'll feel too full to move.
